DyTb (Dysprosium & Terbium)

Definition

Similar to “NdPr” for light rare earths, DyTb refers to the combination of Dysprosium and Terbium.

The Spice

These are the critical additives for high-performance magnets. While a magnet might be 28% NdPr, adding just 1% to 4% DyTb allows that magnet to operate at high temperatures (like in an EV motor) without failing. Because they are rare, they are significantly more expensive than NdPr.
