Chrome simplifies batch-importing open tabs when switching devices

Google has made it easier to batch-import open tabs on Chrome between different devices. The company has added a new functionality in the beta version of the Chrome app for Android devices. The new feature makes it easier to batch-import open tabs on Chrome to a new device. The latest functionality comes in handy when you are switching to a new phone and want access to the open tabs from your previous device.

Chrome now allows users to batch import tabs that are open on other devices to a new device

Chrome has reportedly added the ability to batch import open tabs to new devices in the beta version for mobiles. After a user signs in to their Google account in Chrome on a new phone, they are greeted with a pop-up. It reads “Get tabs from other devices”. The pop-up lets you select the device you want to batch import tabs from.

Notably, the feature lets you select all open tabs or any particular tabs you want to import using the “Review all tabs” option. Then all the tabs that you were using on your previous device will open on your new phone. Previously, after signing in to Chrome on a new device, you’d just see empty tabs.

It’s worth mentioning that Chrome’s new batch import tabs feature also works if you reset the app on the same device. So, if Chrome isn’t working properly on your device, you can easily reset it without worrying about re-opening the previous tabs. Once you reset and sign in again in the same Google Account, you will get a pop-up to import the previous tabs.

Chrome’s new feature isn’t live in the stable version, but you can turn it on manually

Furthermore, the source suggests that Chrome’s new batch import tabs feature isn’t live on the stable channel. It is only available in the Chrome beta and Dev channels at the moment. However, you can manually turn it on by tinkering a bit with the settings of the Chrome app on your mobile.

To get the new feature, first sign in to Chrome with your Google account. Then, type “chrome://flags” (without quotes) in the address bar and hit the enter button. From the list of available options, look for the “Tab Resumption Module”. Then, tap the drop-down menu and set it to “Enabled. Once done, restart the browser and you should get the import tabs pop-up.
