Circle to Search’s Music Search is coming to select Galaxy phones

Cirlcle To Search On Phone

The Circle to Search is one of the amazing AI features introduced by Google earlier this year. The feature initially made its way to select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones. Ever since the launch, Google has been updating the feature with new capabilities. More recently, an APK teardown revealed that Google started testing a new audio/music search feature within the Circle to Search. Now, it seems the Music Search feature inside the Circle to Search has started rolling out for select Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Circle to Search’s Music Search feature is reportedly rolling out to some Samsung Galaxy smartphones

Today, folks over at SamMobile spotted a post on Reddit that confirms the availability of the new feature on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The Redditor who happens to have a Galaxy S23 series smartphone posted to have received the Music Search feature. Per the post, the feature rolled out to their Galaxy smartphone with the Google app’s version 15.32.37.28.

Interestingly, other users running the same Google app version don’t have the feature yet. So, it is safe to assume that Google has started server-side activation of the Music Search feature on some Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Now, you must be wondering what the feature is like, and how it works. When you trigger the Circle to Search feature on your Galaxy smartphone, you’ll soon find a new button with a music note icon. When you click on the same, it will start the process of music identification on your smartphone. You can check the attached screenshot of the Music Search feature in action at the end of this article.

A similar feature was there as part of the Google Assistant with a different name

The feature not only works with music being played on your phone but also with music playing nearby. The best part is that Music Search also works when you sing a song or just hum the tune. For the uninitiated, Google had previously launched a similar feature as part of the Google Assistant. However, it had a different name – Google Song Search.

Since Google is replacing Google Assistant with Gemini, it could be looking to polish the feature. It will be interesting to see when Google officially rolls out the Music Search feature to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Lastly, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the feature could scar the future of third-party Android apps like Shazam with similar capabilities.
