Here are the official wallpapers from the Google Pixel 9a.
These aren’t the high-resolution wallpapers that we normally see for upcoming smartphones, those we won’t be able to share for a bit. But these do give you an idea of what Google is going for, with the Pixel 9a this year.
The wallpapers are sort of similar to what shipped with the rest of the Pixel 9 series, which had swirling flowers. We can see some of that here in these Pixel 9a wallpapers. There are also dark mode and light mode versions of each wallpaper, though it is the most evident on the blue-purple wallpaper that is going look the best on the new Iris Pixel 9a – a color we leaked just yesterday.
Pixel 9a is expected to release around Google I/O 2025
The Pixel a-series has typically been released at Google I/O or around Google I/O every year – except in 2020. This past year, it was announced a week ahead of Google I/O because the keynote was all about AI, specifically Gemini. We’re expecting the same thing this coming year. However, it would make sense for Google to move up the launch since they already moved up the Pixel 9 launch to August this year, and Android 16 is rumored to be moved up to Q2 2025, a full quarter early.
Pixel 9a will also likely be the last Pixel device to launch with a Samsung-manufactured Tensor chip. With Pixel 10, Google is rumored to have a fully customized Tensor chipset, manufactured by TSMC. The same company that manufacturers Apple and Qualcomm chipsets, using their latest 3nm process.
It’s still early, and we expect to see a lot more details coming out on the Pixel 9a over the next few months, we are at least six months out from launch, likely closer to eight. So there’s loads of time for more details to come out.
