Samsung will launch new mid-range and entry-level Android phones later this year. One of those will be the Galaxy A16 5G, which has already received its 3C certification in China. This suggests that the launch of the Galaxy A15 5G successor is imminent and confirms some key specs.
Recently, the Galaxy S24 FE obtained the BIS certification in India. Now it’s the turn of a Galaxy phone from a completely different range, although it’s possible that the launch of both devices occurs on similar dates. MySmartPrice has spotted a 3C listing for the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. The Galaxy A1x lineup is almost the most affordable in the South Korean giant’s catalog. The company has even cheaper phones under the Galaxy A0x series, whose latest exponent is the Galaxy A06.
3C entry of the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G confirms some key details
The 3C certification of the Galaxy A16 5G reveals that Samsung’s next entry-level device will be equipped with a 4,860 mAh battery. It’s quite possible that the company will tout a 5,000mAh cell for the phone. Interestingly, the entry confirms that there will be two Galaxy A16 5G models with different chips for different regions. However, there is no presence of Qualcomm hardware this time around.
According to the report, the phone will use Exynos 1330 5G (Asia or Africa) and Dimensity 6300 chips. Also, there seems to be a noticeable raw power difference between both. On Geekbench, the Exynos model got 967 points in the single-core test and 1,971 points in the multi-core test. Meanwhile, the Dimensity model reached 514 points and 1,464 in the same respective tests.
3C also mentions two battery variants for the Galaxy A16 5G. The batteries use the model numbers BA166ABY and EB-BA166ABE. Unfortunately, the entry doesn’t include any more specific details about potential differences between the two cells.
3C listings don’t typically reveal many technical details about new phones, and this one is no exception. However, in addition to confirming its battery capacity and chips, the certification suggests that the Galaxy A16 5G launch could happen in the coming weeks. For reference, the company announced the Galaxy A15 5G in mid-December 2023, but everything indicates that its successor will arrive a few weeks (or even months) earlier.
