More Galaxy smartphones have joined Samsung‘s January 2024 security update party recently. The latest security patch is now available for the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy A52, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A73 in international markets. The former two have already picked up the update in the US, while the latter two weren’t sold here.
Samsung pushes the January 2024 update to more Galaxy devices
About two weeks ago, Samsung started pushing the January SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to the Galaxy S23 FE in the US. The company first released the update for carrier-locked units, later expanding the coverage to unlocked units. The new firmware build numbers were S711USQS1BWL6 and S711U1UES1BXA2, respectively.
We can now confirm that the latest security update for the Galaxy S23 FE is available in other markets too. Samsung is pushing the new SMR to the phone globally. Depending on where you live, the updated build number is S711BXXS2BWL6, S711BXXS2BWL7, or S711BXXS2BWL8. Regardless of the build number, the content of the update is the same. It brings 80 vulnerability patches.
These security fixes are also available for the Galaxy A52 globally. Carrier-locked units in the US first picked up the update with the build number A526USQSCFWL4. Unlocked units followed recently, getting firmware version A526U1UESCFXA1. The update is now rolling out in other markets with the build number A526BXXS6FXA1 for the 5G model and A525MUBS6DXA1 for the 4G/LTE model.
The Galaxy A34 is another Samsung phone that recently started receiving the January SMR. The rollout has begun in Europe, where the mid-range handset is getting the build number A346BXXS5BWL2. Like the devices mentioned above, it is also only getting the latest security fixes. The Korean firm recently updated these devices to Android 14 and One UI 6.0 with tons of new features.
Samsung’s January 2024 security update rollout doesn’t end there, though. The new SMR is also available for the Galaxy A73, a premium mid-range 5G smartphone from 2022 that never got a successor. The update is rolling out in Turkey with firmware version A736BXXS6DXA1. A wider rollout should follow soon. The Galaxy A73 has also already received the One UI 6.0 update with Android 14.
Samsung phones will soon get the One UI 6.1 update
One UI 6.1 will be the next big feature update for Galaxy devices. Based on Android 14, the new One UI version debuted with the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung plans to push it into older mid-range and flagship modes in the coming months. Flagships should get priority treatment, with the Galaxy S23 series expected to kick off this journey. We will keep you posted with Samsung’s One UI 6.1 updates.
