Samsung has been on the receiving end of some fat jokes regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Rumors are circulating that the company plans to respond to them with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, and that device will utilize titanium it seems.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim could utilize titanium to cut down on weight & thickness
This South Korean tech giant has plenty of competition from China when it comes to foldables. Companies like HONOR have been pushing up the ante when it comes to foldable design. Making its book-style foldable incredibly thin and light.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is far off the mark in both of those categories, at least in direct comparison to the HONOR Magic V2 and Magic V3. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to close to gap, at least to a degree.
In order to achieve that, however, Samsung will have to use at least one new material. Titanium is the go-to metal due to its strength and weight. Samsung is tipped to use it for the phone’s backplate.
The device likely won’t support Samsung’s S Pen stylus
Now, what’s interesting is that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim likely won’t support an S Pen stylus. Back when that rumor surfaced, it seemed very odd. Not it makes more sense, as titanium can interfere with the digitizer than enables stylus support.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to arrive at some point between October and December. It is rumored to be exclusive to the US and China, though nothing has been confirmed just yet.
That device is expected to cost more than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, in case you were wondering. Samsung will likely go over the $2,000 price tag, at least based on rumors. It remains to be seen if they’re true, though.
