Gemini Live is now rolling out to Gemini Advanced Users!

Google Gemini Live AM AH

At Google’s event on Tuesday, the company announced that Gemini Live would start rolling out in the coming days. Well, that day is here. As Gemini Live has just started to pop up on some devices. As first reported by Mishaal Rahman, I’ve also seen it arrive on my OnePlus Open, but it’s not yet available on my Pixel 8 Pro. This appears to be a server-side switch that’s being flipped here. So it might be a bit before it rolls out to your device. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can sideload or spoof to get it on your device sooner.

Keep in mind that Gemini Live is only available for those who are subscribed to Gemini Advanced. Which is available for $20 per month (you also get 2TB of Google One Storage).

What is Gemini Live?

Gemini Live is a more natural way to have free-flowing voice conversations with Gemini on your phone. It’s sort of like Google Assistant, but it takes up a few notches. You can use Gemini Live to brainstorm ideas, simplify complex topics, and rehearse for important moments. This is all done in real time, with spoken responses. Gemini Live is hands-free, so you can keep talking with the Gemini app in the background or when your phone is locked. That way, you can keep your conversation going while you’re on the go.

At launch, Google has about 10 different voices that are available for Gemini Live. So you can choose the one that you like best. Currently, it is limited to English only, on Android phones. Google says that it will come to iOS and more languages in the coming weeks.

It’s a pretty cool feature for Gemini, even though it is limited to Gemini Advanced users only. Though, we do expect that to change in the future. As Google likely wants to get this in the hands of as many people as possible.
