Google showed off the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in all its Pixely glory, and it looks more refined than its predecessor. Be that as it may, there are people who are still peeping last year’s Pixel Fold. It’s not available for purchase at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that Google has washed its hands of the device. Google will start selling the Pixel Fold again after a short break.
In case you’re curious, Google’s new foldable phone is now under the Pixel 9 series of phones. This time around, the phone is sporting a new square camera island that contrasts the bar-shaped camera package of the last generation. As for the overall shape, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold looks pretty similar to the OnePlus Open, which seemed to strike the perfect balance of being a phone and tablet.
Using the new Google Tensor G4, this phone is built from the ground up for AI. It comes with 16GB of RAM and at least 256GB of storage. It starts at $1,799, and you can pick it up for less if you capitalize on trade-in deals or pre-order discounts. You can check out what Verizon and T-Mobile have to offer.
Google will continue selling the Pixel Fold after a break
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is already available for pre-ordering, and that means that Google is done with its fledgling foldable, right? Not quite. It doesn’t matter if there’s a shiny new foldable to push to the masses. Google still has a back stock of unsold devices, and it needs to get rid of it.
Right now, the first-gen Pixel Fold isn’t available to purchase on the Google Store. However, that’s not going to be the case forever. After the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has had its time in the spotlight and enough air time to soak up as many pre-orders as it can, the company is going to resume selling the first Pixel Fold.
You’ll be able to buy the phone at a reduced price. We don’t expect the price to be drastically different (don’t expect it to drop to something like $800), but it will be a palpable discount to make it enticing. If you don’t want to spend the extra dough to buy the new hotness, you might be tempted by last year’s offering.
We don’t know when the Pixel Fold will make a return, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for it.
