Huawei has announced a new smartwatch, and it’s called the Huawei Watch Ultimate. Now, this watch is different than any other you’ve seen from the company. It not only looks different, but there are some additional changes worth noting.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is made out of zirconium-based liquid metal, like some luxurious watches

Based on the images, you may even confuse this smartwatch with a nice, classy (regular) watch. It’s far from a regular watch, though. This smartwatch is made out of zirconium-based liquid metal. Huawei says that this material is usually reserved for traditional, luxurious timepieces, and was never used in a smartwatch.

The company also claims that it has unique properties. It is 4.5 times stronger and 2.5 times harder than stainless steel. It can also resist deformation under high temperatures way better than stainless steel.

You can take this watch diving up to 100m

You can take this watch diving up to 100m, which is twice as much as other, recent smartwatches are capable of doing. It is way more suitable for professional divers because of that, needless to say. The watch has also undergone ISO 22810 water resistance standard and EN13319 diving equipment standard tests. It can endure submission for up to 24 hours.

You will notice three buttons on the watch, two on the right side, and one on the left. The top button on the right side acts as a rotating crown. The one below it is the function button, and the one on the left is the all-new “Assist button”. That button will push you directly to Huawei’s new Diving or Expedition mode, which are two different function modes of the watch.

There are four diving modes to choose from

There are four different diving modes to choose from here. They are: scuba dive, technical scuba dive, free dive, and gauge. The Huawei Watch Ultimate uses the Buhlmann decompression algorithm to monitor diving data on a continual basis.

The Expedition mode is made for outdoor adventures. Huawei listed some examples, such as desert off-roading, camping, and hiking. The watch does support dual-frequency five-system GNSS positioning capabilities.

The Huawei TruSeen 5.0+ system is included, with heart rate tracking, and accurate screening for the risk of arteriosclerosis. On top of that, all-day SpO2 monitoring is also included here, and the same goes for stress monitoring. TruSleep 3.0 is here as well, for sleep tracking.

It has a big LTPO AMOLED display & great battery life

The watch has a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display, which supports refresh rates from 1Hz to 60Hz. A 530mAh battery is included here, and you can get up to 14 days of usage on a single charge, for regular users. Active users can pull out 8 days between charges, says Huawei.

Wireless charging is supported, and the charger does come in the box. The watch can be fully charged in an hour.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate comes in two variants, and it’s quite pricey

The Huawei Watch Ultimate comes in Expedition Black (rubber strap) and Voyage Blue (metallic strap, titanium). This smartwatch will be available in both China and Europe. It will go on sale in the UK and Europe from April 3, from the Huawei Store and selected retailers.

The pricing in China starts at CNY5,999 ($880), while we still don’t know the price tag for Europe.
