Huawei tri fold smartphone prototype 1

Huawei will become the very first company to both announce and start selling a tri-fold device. Huawei’s tri-fold device will go on sale next month, it has been confirmed by the company’s CEO of the consumer business division.

Huawei’s tri-fold device is right around the corner, it will go on sale next month

The man in question is Richard Yu, who has been spotted using the device in an airplane, and then again in a folded form while being out and about. So, who better to confirm the news than him, it doesn’t get more official than that.

He confirmed that the device is coming while attending a Stelato S9 delivery ceremony. That is an EV car powered by HarmonyOS, in case you were wondering. During that event, Richard Yu was asked about a tri-fold device.

A part of the question was when will the device be available. Without much hesitation, Richard Yu said: “Next month”. Now, do keep in mind that this device will launch in China first. In fact, it could remain exclusive to China.

This is a first-gen product, and it will likely remain exclusive to China

It’s a first-gen product, and based on some reports we’ve been getting, it’s going to be very expensive. That is, of course, not surprising. Huawei will likely want to wait before launching this handset to global markets.

The device is expected to include a large display. It will allegedly unfold to form a 10-inch display, or something similar to that. When fully folded, the device is not as thick as we thought it would be. It looked quite thin in Richard Yu’s hands, all things considered.

Samsung is allegedly not even close to announcing its tri-fold device. So, Huawei clearly has the advantage in that regard. It remains to be seen how useful will the device be. There’s the size to consider, and also the UI that will run on it.
