Huawei is expected to become the first company to launch a tri-fold smartphone. The company’s chairman, Richard Yu, was spotted with the device recently. Well, he was photographed with the phone yet again. Based on this image, Huawei’s tri-fold phone does look very promising in a folded form.
Huawei’s tri-fold smartphone just appeared in a folded form, and it looks to be thin enough
As you can see in the images provided below, this tri-fold smartphone now appeared in a folded form. Initially, we’ve only seen it in an unfolded form. In any case, you’ll see two images below. The first one is the original one, while the second one is basically a cutout of the phone, taken from the first image.
I have to say that I expected this phone to look thicker when folded. In this image, it looks thicker than regular foldables, but not by that much. It actually looks very much manageable.
You will notice that Huawei seemingly opted for a circular camera island on the back. That camera oreo will protrude on the back a bit, though that’s not surprising at all.
This phone could launch as soon as next month
Those of you who are wondering when will this phone see the light of day, well… we may not have to wait for long. A well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, says that the phone could arrive in September.
He doesn’t seem to be 100% sure, but he says it’s “estimated” the device is coming in September, along with some other products from the company.
It’s worth noting that Samsung is also working on a tri-fold device. However, Samsung doesn’t seem to be close to launching such a device, not at all. Huawei’s, on the other hand, is right around the corner.
Do note that it will likely remain exclusive to China, and it will quite probably be extremely expensive. Huawei is expected to launch a very limited number of these devices, due to its price, and due to the fact it’s a specific first-gen product. That is all based on rumors, though, so… let’s wait and see.
