The iPhone 16 series is on the way, and some new info regarding the ‘Pro’ model just surfaced. The iPhone 16 Pro will have a considerably larger camera island than its predecessor, it would seem.
The iPhone 16 Pro is said to include a considerably larger camera island than its predecessor
This information comes from the iPhone 16 Pro cases that surfaced online. These are third-party cases, and Majin Bu uploaded them on X. Do note this info with a grain of salt, of course, even though the cases are probably accurate. The cases themselves are included in the gallery below the article.
On the back of these cases, you can see the size of the cutout for the iPhone 16 Pro camera island. It’s obviously larger than the one on the iPhone 15 Pro. Main Bu clearly notes that as well.
Why is that, though? Well, the main camera is expected to get an increase. Apple will use a 1/1.14-inch main camera sensor, instead of a 1/1.28-inch one. That’s not all, though, the other two cameras are also rumored to get an upgrade.
Its main, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras will get a boost
The phone’s ultrawide camera will get a bump from a 12-megapixel unit to a 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 sensor if the rumors are accurate. On top of that, the phone will no longer use a regular telephoto camera, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 12-megapixel 5x telephoto camera is known as ‘Tetraprism’.
The device itself will also be larger than its predecessor. All of these camera improvements are probably the reason why, at least a part of it. It will include a 6.3-inch display this time around, instead of a 6.1-inch one.
All upcoming iPhones will include a Capture Button too, which is a novelty for the company’s phones. The entire iPhone 16 series is expected to arrive in September this year. That’s when Apple usually announced its new phones.
