Nothing has started seeding Nothing OS 1.5.3 update to its smartphone. This is the latest update for the Nothing Phone (1), and it delivers improved battery life. On top of that, the company promises faster app loading, amongst some other changes
Latest Nothing Phone (1) update brings battery life improvements & much more
This is also the first update since Android 13 arrived to the device. Android 13 arrived with Nothing OS 1.5 on top of it. This new build weighs 91MB, and it’s rolling out over-the-air (OTA), of course.
Do note that we’re looking at a gradual rollout here, of course. Some of you may have already received it, while others may have to wait for a bit. Don’t worry, though, the update is coming.
Now, Nothing did offer an explanation when it comes to the main changes. The company says that battery life and app loading time improvements are possible thanks to a new memory management algorithm. That algorithm reduces app restart times by over 35%, and lowers CPU consumption.
Animations should be smoother now, and you’re getting new wallpapers too
In addition to the two main changes that we’ve already mentioned, Nothing did mention some other things in the changelog. You can now manually add games to Game Mode, while this update brings smoother animations too.
The company also mentioned an improved fingerprint transition between the lock screen and AOD. New wallpapers have been added, while the overall system stability has been improved too.
The update also brings support for the Nothing Ear (2) earbuds that are expected to launch next week. A ton of bugs have been fixed. These include fixes for Glyph lights not showing incoming WhatsApp calls, freezes during YouTube video playback, weather data not showing in the Quick Look widget, and more.
