Netflix adds Street Fighter IV to its mobile portfolio

Street Fighter IV Champion Edition

A few years ago, we all thought that Netflix was crazy when it wanted to enter the gaming industry. Well, it’s been able to carve out its own piece of the market by launching exclusive games and pay-walling pre-existing games. Netflix announced that Street Fighter IV and Civilizations VI will be available on mobile.

In case you don’t know, Netflix publishes its own line of games on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. We’ve seen some pretty significant titles like Sonic Mania, Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Monument Valley, the GTA Trilogy, and more. These games are free to download, but you must have an active Netflix account on your device in order to play them.

It’s a way to attract more people to the streaming service along with its movies and shows. You can check these games out on the Netflix app page on your respective app store.

Netflix’s gaming business has been growing, and this is because of the number of high-profile games that it’s been putting onto the market. One of the games it announced coming to the platform is Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition. There’s a version of Street Fighter IV: CE on both app stores that you can download for free today. However, the Netflix version will be a bit different. In this version, you’ll have access to all 32 fighters right off the bat. Not only that, but this version has cross-play available. So, there will be some value in playing the Netflix version.

Not only that, but the company is bringing Sid Meiers’ Civilizations VI. This is the penultimate version of the popular turn-based battle series. Just like with previous games, you’ll start from the dawn of civilization and work your way up to the space age, gathering knowledge, conquering other civilizations, and writing your own history. This version will come with all of the expansion packs that came with the game. Just like with Street Fighter IV, you’re getting an augmented experience.

Right now, these games are not available to download and Netflix didn’t give us an official date. However, we’re sure that the company will announce it when they hit the market.
