Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere nowadays. You can find it being used in different sectors including healthcare, transportation, and more. Meanwhile, many social media apps including Reddit have been trying to bridge language barriers with AI. Earlier this year, Reddit announced it is adding a new AI translation tool to help users translate their entire feed into their language.

Reddit’s AI translation feature is now available in Brazil and Spain

The company initially rolled out this feature in France. Now, Reddit is expanding the availability of the AI translation feature in more than thirty-five countries. With this move, the company wants the platform to be more accessible to users around the globe.

The feature that we’re talking about here uses the power of machine learning for translation. You can translate your entire Reddit feed as well as comments using this new AI translation feature. Notably, this AI-powered feature is now also available in Brazil and Spain. That also means Redditors from Brazil and Spain can translate all the posts and comments into their respective languages i.e. Portuguese and Spanish.

If you live in the above countries and looking to use this AI translation feature, you need to first tap the overflow menu on the top right corner of the Reddit page. From there, you can tap on the translate icon to make this new feature work on your end.

The feature is coming to several other countries across Latin America in the next few weeks

Unlike Instagram’s translation feature where you have to manually translate every post, Reddit’s one gets everything going automatically. That’s the best part of it. You can post and comment in your language and it gets automatically translated based on the community’s set language.

Reddit users in Germany, the Philippines, Italy, and countries across Latin America will get the new AI translation feature in the coming weeks. You can access this feature on Reddit while using it through the app, mobile browser, or desktop.

Besides, Reddit is also planning to add a banner on every translated post and a quick button to ensure users can see the original content. This can be useful at times when AI doesn’t provide accurate translation which is very much possible. Moreover, the company also plans to index all the translated Reddit content on search engines. This will make all that content visible to users who search on Google using their mother tongue.
