It hasn’t been long since OPPO settled its patent dispute with Nokia. It seemed that everything was fine for the Chinese brand, which was able to resume selling OnePlus phones in Germany. However, in a surprising turn of events, OnePlus phones have been banned in Germany again, and this time it was not Nokia’s fault.

While the situation with Nokia seems to be settled, another company detected a potential patent infringement in OnePlus devices. Now it is InterDigital that claims the unauthorized use of its 5G technology. The company focuses on researching and developing technologies related to wireless products.

OnePlus stops selling phones in Germany amid new patent dispute

Germany once again banned the sales of OnePlus phones due to the new patent dispute. “OnePlus places high value on intellectual property rights and fair access to standard essential patents, which is essential for driving innovation in the industry. We will continue to negotiate with InterDigital and wish to resolve this matter in an amicable way. Meanwhile, our commitment in Europe remains unchanged and we will continue to provide excellent products and services to our users,” reads an official statement from the company.

Negotiations are underway to resolve the dispute

Currently, OnePlus and InterDigital are negotiating to try to resolve the new dispute. However, it is not known how long it will take for OnePlus to start selling smartphones again. The lawsuit seems to specifically affect OnePlus phones, as the company still offers other products. Currently, Germans can buy the OnePlus Pad 2, Buds Pro 3, and Watch 2 through the company’s website.

Resolving the situation with Nokia took a relatively long process of around two years. During that time, the company had to completely stop selling OnePlus phones in the European country. OnePlus probably wants to resolve the situation much faster this time. Plus, the OnePlus 13 is coming soon, and European mobile tech fans are excited about it. OnePlus could lose a lot of potential sales if it doesn’t have things ready by then.
