Samsung is one of the leading mobile AI drivers. The company is working hard to integrate artificial intelligence into its main products, services, and apps to offer advanced features that make your day-to-day life easier. This would benefit the Samsung Gallery app, thanks to an AI-powered image and video search system that would arrive with One UI 7.
Galaxy device users have been demanding improvements to the Gallery app for some time. Over the last couple of years, Samsung has been working to offer a better experience by integrating new options and advanced AI-powered features with the help of Google. The next step for the company would be to make searching for files in the gallery much easier.
One UI 7 may bring AI-driven search to the Samsung Gallery app for Galaxy devices
Maybe you ever wanted to find a specific image and couldn’t because it was hidden among thousands of memes accumulated over months (or years). You remembered what the image was about, but you just couldn’t find it. Well, it looks like those kinds of issues will end next year. Tipster Ice Universe revealed on X that Samsung is working on optimizations for its Gallery app and “convenient features related to AI search” with the One UI 7 update.
Samsung isn’t the first company to work on something similar. This year, Google announced Ask Photos, the integration of Gemini with the Google Photos app. This will make the app’s file search system much “smarter.” You’ll be able to find specific images using a natural language prompt instead of relying on robotic commands. Ask Photos will also allow you to find and extract data from your pictures, for example.
Apple Intelligence has its own AI gallery search
Apple also announced an AI-powered search system for the Apple Intelligence suite. Additionally, it’s possible that the Cupertino giant will introduce the feature to its users before Google and Samsung do. One UI 7 won’t arrive until 2025, and Ask Photos is currently only available as early access. Meanwhile, the first Apple Intelligence features will arrive this month on eligible devices. At first, EU regulations will prevent European users from accessing these features until further notice.
