Leaks about One UI 7 have revealed that it will bring one of the biggest changes to Samsung’s custom skin in years. Recent developments suggest that Samsung is also working on a more cohesive user experience across the UI of its multiple product series. That means you’ll start seeing One UI 7 app icons and design elements on more platforms than just Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches.
The company started the “unification” by shipping One UI for its Tizen-powered smart TVs. Samsung ditched the traditional Tizen look in favor of a more familiar experience across its entire ecosystem of smart products. Now, the company is rolling out One UI 7 icons for the Galaxy Book Experience app on its laptops. One UI 7 first public beta for phones will be available soon for devices like the Galaxy S24 series.
Galaxy Book Experience receives new One UI 7 app icons on Samsung laptops
Galaxy Book Experience is a hub for all of Samsung’s apps. There you’ll find all of the South Korean giant’s exclusive apps for your laptop. If you’re a Galaxy phone user, many of them will be familiar to you, as they’re also available on mobile devices. As spotted by SamMobile, the Galaxy Book Experience app has received a new update (v3.4.0.0). The update, part of the so-called One UI Book 6.1, included the new One UI 7 app icons.
Screenshots shared by the source show that the icons match those that have been confirmed and leaked over the past few weeks. The icons for the Phone, Samsung Notes, SmartThings, and Tips apps are identical to those of their mobile counterparts, for instance.
Recently, Samsung revealed that its UI unification plans won’t end here. In addition to smartphones, smartwatches, smart TVs, and laptops, the company will bring the One UI experience to its smart appliances. This includes the Knox Matrix security system for products that require authentication using credentials. The news suggests that the company aims to create a device ecosystem that rivals the organic and familiar experience of Apple devices.
