Galaxy Tab S8 picks up new AI features with One UI 6.1 in the US
Samsung’s One UI 6.1 update is a massive one. Introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, it brings several new AI features among other things. The company has been pushing the new One UI version to older models since the end of March. The Galaxy Tab S8 series is the latest to join the party, with a few more expected to join in the coming days.
The One UI 6.1 update for the US versions of the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is rolling out in phases and should reach all eligible units across the nation over the next few days. The update bears the build version CXE2 (the last four characters). Since it is a major feature update, the OTA (over the air) package is huge weighing over two gigabytes (GBs).
There are plenty of feature additions to show for it. Samsung’s flagship Android tablets from early 2022 are picking up most of the new AI features the company introduced with the Galaxy S24 series. They are getting Circle to Search, improved Call & Message Continuity, Chat Assist, Interpreter, Note Assist, Browsing Assist, Generative Edit, AI wallpapers, and more.
Long story short, One UI 6.1 gives you a lot of new features to play with. Your Samsung tablet becomes substantially more productive than before. The new AI features can help you with various tasks, such as organizing notes, editing photos quickly, and rephrasing your messages to the desired tone. Circle to Search makes it easy to search for anything on your Galaxy Tab S8’s screen.
The tablets remain on the March security patch
Despite getting One UI 6.1, the Galaxy Tab S8 series remains on the March security patch. Yes, not even the April patch, let alone the May release. Samsung has already started pushing the latest security update to its devices. Since these tablets get quarterly security patches, the company may not push a new release before June. We will let you know when it’s here.
