Back at the end of September SteelSeries announced the Arctis GameBuds, a pair of gaming-centric earbuds that can be used for various gaming platforms, and as of this week SteelSeries has officially announced their availability.
The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds are now purchasable for those who prefer a more unencumbered listening experience with their content. Whether it’s games, movies, TV, music, podcasts, or anything else, earbuds have a way of being less obtrusive and they’re much more convenient than over-ear or on-ear headphones. For some, they can also be more comfortable.
They’re also more portable, and that’s a big reason people have started to gravitate toward using earbuds for more and more content. This widespread popularity, SteelSeries says, is part of why it decided to venture down this path. SteelSeries has been in the business of making top-quality gaming peripherals for many years now. It specializes in PC and console gaming, and it makes everything from keyboards to headsets, like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.
While we can’t say these will give you the same audio experience as the top-end SteelSeries headset, SteelSeries promises a few things. Namely “intense 360-degree audio” using Arctis Speaker Drivers for enhanced spatial sound. That should go a long way to making your game audio more immersive.
SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds availability reaches Amazon and other retailers
If you’re looking for something to fulfill your gaming audio needs, the Arctis GameBuds are now available through multiple retailers. You can pick them up directly from SteelSeries, but you can also buy them on Amazon and through Best Buy. They retail for $159.99 and at that price, they’re right in line with plenty of other high-quality pairs of earbuds you can find on the market. The difference is that these were designed specifically for gaming. Yet they were also intended to work great for non-gaming entertainment.
You can easily swap between the two audio sources too. Integrated touch controls allow you to do a triple tap on the earbuds to cycle through the 2.4GHz low-latency audio and Bluetooth 5.3. So you can have them connected to your PC or console and mobile device at the same time.
Compatible with PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices
You can use these with basically anything. The included USB-C adapter is for PC and console for low-latency gaming. You could also use it for mobile devices. Although Bluetooth 5.3 would work just as well. The one thing consumers will want to pay attention to is the model they buy. If you’re intending to use these with Xbox, you’ll want to buy the model that’s specifically labeled for Xbox. These come in one color, a Black. There’s also the PlayStation model which comes in Black as well as White.
There’s no real difference between the two models, but it’s still recommended to get the correct pair for the platforms you intend to play on. Both models will also work for PC and mobile as well as Nintendo Switch. The Arctis GameBuds will last for up to 10+ hours of listening time on a single charge. However, you get three additional charges out of the case for a total of 40+ hours. And when it comes time to charge them up, you can plug the case in or use a wireless charging pad.
The earbuds also have over 100 game audio presets tailored to specific games. They’re IP55 water-resistant as well.
