TCL Unveils New NXTPAPER Smartphones at IFA 2024

The TCL 50 NXTPAPER and the TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER 5G showcase TCL’s third-generation NXTPAPER displays. The technology minimizes blue light exposure and reduces glare, enhancing user comfort. The displays also adjust color temperature automatically to ensure optimal viewing.

Both models feature a 6.8-inch, 120Hz Full HD+ NXTPAPER screen. They come with a sleek design, including a hole-punch camera at the front and a triple camera setup on the back. Despite their similarities, the PRO version boasts enhanced specifications, including 512GB of storage and a 32MP front camera, compared to the 256GB of storage and 8MP front camera of the standard model.

A standout feature of these smartphones is the “Max Ink Mode.” Activated via a dedicated NXTPAPER Key, this mode transforms the screen into a black-and-white reading interface, optimizing it for a paper-like experience. This mode mutes notifications and prioritizes reading apps, making it easier to enjoy books or articles without distraction.

Affordable Yet Advanced

Despite their advanced features, both the TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G and TCL 50 PRO NXTPAPER 5G are positioned as budget-friendly options. The PRO model, priced at €229 (approximately $254), offers more storage and a higher resolution front camera compared to the standard model, which also retails at €229 but only in Europe. Both phones come with a 5010mAh battery, capable of lasting up to 26 days in Max Ink Mode, emphasizing their long-lasting usability for readers.

In addition to their unique display technology, the NXTPAPER smartphones incorporate AI-driven features. The devices include a Text Assistant in collaboration with Microsoft, which can translate, summarize, and rewrite text. They also feature a Voice Memo app for recording, transcribing, and summarizing conversations, adding a layer of productivity to the reading-focused devices.
