While gamers sit around and wait for The Elder Scrolls VI, they can sate their hunger for more adventures in Tamriel with The Elder Scrolls: Castles. This upcoming mobile game is set to debut on both Android and iOS globally in the very near future. It’s technically already available for some players. It soft launched in a few regions around the world back in September of last year.
For everyone else, the game will be launching officially on September 10. That’s only a few weeks away though, so you’ll be able to dip your fingers in soon. This will be a free-to-play game so expect microtransactions, but hopefully, they won’t be aggressive and gate a majority of the content, forcing people to make the choice to spend money to advance or wait several hours or days to continue.
Although this is an Elder Scrolls game, it may not actually be set in Tamriel. The developers haven’t confirmed as much and it’s not listed. So it’s more likely that the kingdom the game takes place in is a general kingdom with the Elder Scrolls theme. The developers have confirmed, however, that this is a spiritual successor to Fallout Shelter. That being said, it does have what appears to be new features and game mechanics that weren’t available in that game.
The Elder Scrolls: Castles lets you customize your castle at any time
Although the gameplay in The Elder Scrolls: Castles is much like Fallout Shelter, Bethesda has stated that there are loads of improvements, new features, and new mechanics that add quality of life. One such thing is the ability to edit your castle’s layout at any time. So if you don’t like where something is, you can move it. This is pretty great and will add some flexibility for players.
It’s also possible to place decorations around your castle. This has an impact on the style of things, of course. And if your thing is making your domiciles look good, you’ll love this aspect. However, the decorations are more than just a pretty visual design. Each decoration and prop also has an effect on the gameplay. So you’ll want to look at their stats and effects to see what changes.
Castle customizations can also have an impact on the success of the dynasty. So there are multiple elements to manage and pay attention to. If you want to flourish, that is.
Each day in real life is 1 year in the game
This is a sim/management game so there’s a lot of time management and management of other elements to take into account. It’s also a game you may have to check in on quite often. As each day in real life is equal to 1 year passing in the game world. Basically, don’t leave your dynasty unattended for too long. Doing so may have you coming back to a kingdom in ruin full of unhappy subjects.
The game also lets you create heroes and send them out to complete quests and do battle. So there is sort of a turn-based RPG element to the gameplay as well. In short, if you’re an Elder Scrolls fan, this might be worth your time to check out. It could be a fun casual game to play when you have some downtime from day to day. If you feel like giving it a go, you can pre-register on Google Play or the App Store.
