Not too long ago, we got our first glimpse at OnePlus’s newest joint venture. After a quick teaser, OnePlus finally hit us with the news that its first mechanical keyboard will launch in February next year.
In case you don’t know what’s going on, OnePlus has a new partnership program where it will collaborate with different companies to create products that are far removed from its typical devices. This is a way for the company to branch out and cover different industries without having to spend too much money on manufacturing.
The OnePlus mechanical keyboard will launch in February
This latest partnership sees OnePlus collaborating with a company called Keychron. Previously, we didn’t really know much about this device or what it will have to offer, but thanks to Android Central, we have some more information on it. For starters, you don’t have to worry about compatibility. This keyboard will work with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
Judging by what OnePlus states, this is going to be a pretty feature-rich keyboard. For starters, it’ll be customizable. You will be able to swap out the keys and you’ll even be able to swap the key switches to your liking. OnePlus says that its keys and switches were co-created by its fans.
This next feature is for the gamers. The OnePlus mechanical keyboard will come with RGB lights. You’ll be able to customize those lights using open-source software such as QMK and VIA. OnePlus even said that the keyboard will offer a high-quality gaming experience.
As for the build quality, we expect this keyboard to have an aluminum body to give it a more hefty and a premium feel to it. For people who prioritize a great tactile feel, this OnePlus keyboard will sport a double gasket design.
If you’re excited about this keyboard, then you will have a few months to wait. One plus stated that this keyboard will launch sometime in February. However, it did not give an exact date. We should expect to get a more specific launch date as time goes on.
