Xiaomi announced a bunch of products for the global markets. Not only did the company show off 5 Redmi Note 13 smartphones that will be hitting global smartphones, but also some wearables. The Redmi Watch 4 and Redmi Buds 5 series were launched globally.
The Redmi Watch 4 & Redmi Buds 5 series devices have also been launched globally
Both of those products were announced in China last year, and have now been presented to the global audience too. Let’s focus on the watch first, and then we’ll pivot to the earbuds.
The Redmi Watch 4 is a square-shaped smartwatch with a single button on the right-hand side. That button doubles as a rotating crown too. The watch is made out of aluminum, and it is 5ATM rated too.
This smartwatch is equipped with a 1.97-inch 450 x 390 AMOLED display. That panel goes up to 600 nits of brightness at its peak. A bunch of sensors are placed on the watch, including an optical heart rate sensor and a blood oxygen sensor, in addition to a range of standard ones.
The Redmi Watch 5 comes with over 150 sports modes
The watch comes with over 150 sports modes and a voice coach too. It can take care of daily activity tracking, and it has a speaker too, so you can use it to make calls.
Bluetooth 5.3 is also included, as is a 470mAh battery. The watch offers up to 20 days of battery life in ‘typical mode’, and up to 10 days with ‘AOD mode’ active. If you activate long battery life mode, you’ll get up to 30 days’ worth of battery life.
A multi-system GNSS is built in here. The Redmi Watch 4 measures 47.5 x 41.1 x 10.5mm, and weighs 31.5 grams (without a strap).
The Redmi Buds 5 and Redmi Buds 5 Pro earbuds also got announced. They do look different, as the Redmi Buds 5 are more squarish. Both sets of earbuds are made out of plastic, though, of course.
The Redmi Buds 5 include 12.4mm drivers, dual microphones, and three transparency modes
The Redmi Buds 5 include 12.4mm drivers, and offer dual device smart connection. Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy Bluetooth is also on offer, as is support for Google Fast Pair. These earbuds also come with touch controls.
Dual microphones with AI noise reduction for calls are on offer too. Wind resistance is built-in, as is Active Noise Cancellation up to 46dB. Deep, Balance, and Light Noise Cancellation modes are at your disposal. There are also three sound transparency modes you can choose from.
These earbuds come with 4 EQ settings that you can choose from in the dedicated app. A 54mAh battery sits inside each earbud, and Xiaomi says you can get up to 10 hours work of battery life. That drops to 8 hours if you use noise reduction. The charging case adds plenty of added battery, and a quick 5-minute charge offers up to 2 hours of music playback.
The Redmi Buds 5 Pro come with a 10mm Piezoelectric ceramic tweeter and IP54 certification
The Redmi Buds 5 Pro earbuds include a 10mm Piezoelectric ceramic tweeter, and an 11mm Bass driver with titanium diaphragm. LDAC audio codec is also in use. These earbuds do offer dual device smart connection, Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy support, Google Fast Pair, and touch controls.
There are three microphones with AI noise reduction for calls here, and wind resistance too. Active Noise Cancellation up to 52dB is on offer, and there are three levels of noise cancellation. Three levels of transparency modes are also on offer and 4 EQ settings via the app too.
These earbuds are IP54 certified and have a 54mAh battery each. The RedmI Buds 5 Pro earbuds do offer up to 10 hours of battery life per earbuds, 8 hours with noise reduction. The charging case does offer more battery life, but nowhere near as much as the Redmi Buds 5 case.
